Meet the Team

Greg Hughes, Founder & CEO

Greg Hughes

Founder & CEO

When Greg was only 19, he made his first real estate investment: he bought three houses on a half-acre lot, living in one and renting the other two.  After learning the value of a smart investment strategy, he partnered to build several commercial buildings from the ground up, which he still owns and manages today.  Over the last ten years, Greg has raised more than $140 million and has profitably bought and sold over 1,600 properties in 22 states.  He is the co-owner of Hughes Private Capital and three other operational companies.  He also co-manages for four alternative investment options: Secured Portfolio, which gives investors all the benefits of owning real estate in their portfolio without the landlord hassles, the Buy and Hold Fund, which purchases residential real estate in select U.S. neighborhoods chosen for long-term stability and profitability, ROI Strategies, which owns homes in the single-family market with a rent to own model, and Sentinel, which purchases re-performing mortgages on single-family homes.  A real estate and investment author and finance strategist, Greg has been a regular guest on Nevada Real Estate Radio, Money Watch Channel 2 News with Kristin Remington, The Morning Blend in Las Vegas, and a speaker at the Small Balance Real Estate Summits.  He is also a Trusted Advisor for Freedom Founders, which helps medical professionals invest in real estate to achieve financial freedom.  Greg was born and raised in Reno, where he lives with his wife, Tanja, of 31 years.  They have four children – Kayla, 29, Hayden, 27, Tate, 24, and Dexter, 23.  He enjoys golf, tennis, pickleball, and snow skiing.

Stacy Silva, Investor Relations Director

Stacy Silva

Investor Relations Director

Before joining the Hughes Capital Investor Relations Team in 2017, Stacy had accumulated more than 20 years of experience across various industries in areas such as operations, executive client services, corporate account management, project and contract management and negotiation, event planning, and technical recruiting.  As the San Francisco area rep for a global corporate travel company, Stacy routinely negotiated multi-million-dollar contracts with a client base that spanned the globe.  She spent four years working with Microsoft, supervising contractors, and managing the internal recruiting team.  Her ties with Microsoft led her to relocate from Redmond, WA to Reno, NV, coordinating with the team contracted to build the infrastructure for Microsoft retail stores.  Stacy also worked for Dale Carnegie professional training and is a graduate of all the Dale Carnegie courses.  She is a former president of BNI Northwest, in Bellevue, WA, and is a former board member of NCET in Reno, NV.

Following an 8-month hiatus in 2020 to focus on fighting Stage IV cancer, Stacy is now back to work managing the Investor Relations Team, the Secured Transactions Team, Direct to Seller Program, and our exchange company, Equity 1031.  In her spare time, you will find Stacy enjoying anything on, in, or near the water, or spending quality time with the family and friends that mean the world to her.  She is up for just about any adventure and is thankful for each and every day she gets to spend on this earth.

Katie Robinson, Investor Relations Program Manager

Katie Robinson

Investor Relations Program Manager

Katie has recently shifted her focus from Administration to serving as the Investor Relations Program Manager.  In this role she oversee projects, facilitates communications between Investor Relations (IR) and other departments, and streamlines processes for the growing team.  Her innate capacity for organization and attention to detail, along with her love for strong and consistent communication, led Katie to Hughes Private Capital, where she uses these skills to assist the IR team so they can do what they do best: serve investors.  Katie thrives on the IR team with the support and direction of Stacy, whom Katie attributes is the team’s anchor.

Katie enjoyed living in Reno for eight years until “the pull of the south was too much to resist,”  which led her to relocate closer to family.  Thankfully, Hughes Capital continues to be her second family, and she has been able to seamlessly transition to a remote setting while retaining her position.  Outside of work, Katie enjoys exploring her new home of Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina.

Kayla Hughes, Marketing Director

Kayla Hughes

Marketing Director

Kayla has been her father’s coworker as far back as she can remember.  She is the visionary behind the marketing strategy for Hughes Capital’s multiple investment funds and operating businesses.  She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Nevada, Reno.  Traveling is one of Kayla’s passions because of the challenges and new perspectives it brings her.  She completed a year-long cultural exchange in Germany, backpacked through ten countries in Europe for four months, got her diving certification in Thailand, and recently enjoyed the beauty of Croatia and the British Virgin Islands.  Kayla also enjoys playing volleyball and wallyball, fostering kittens, nurturing all things that are green, and reads voraciously (especially if it was written by Ayn Rand).

Steve Sixberry, Founder & COO

Steve Sixberry

Founder & COO

Steve spent over 25 years in the wireless industry which began in the US Air Force in beautiful Alaska.  After returning to civilian life, he partnered in a small communications company and grew the business to span six western states before successfully selling the company to the major wireless carrier Sprint/Nextel.  Since entering the finance and real estate business, Steve has profitably bought, sold, managed, and financed over $81 million in real estate assets.  He is the co-owner of Hughes Private Capital and three other operational companies.  Steve also co-manages for four alternative investment options: Secured Portfolio, which gives investors all the benefits of owning real estate in their portfolio without the landlord hassles, the Buy and Hold Fund, which purchases residential real estate in select U.S. neighborhoods chosen for long-term stability and profitability, ROI Strategies, which owns homes in the single-family market with a rent to own model, and Sentinel, which purchases re-performing mortgages on single-family homes.  Steve and Jill, his wife of 38 years, have two grown children.  They have called Northern Nevada “home” for the last 31 years.  A passionate archery hunter, hiker, and fly fisherman, Steve’s love of outdoor activities keeps him quite busy. We don’t mind, as he seems to have some of his best ideas out in the middle of nowhere.
